I drilled holes that would match up to the bolt holes for the yoke straps and then a large hole to fit the puller through the center. I had nothing that would fit, so I took a metal plate and drilled some holes to make the tool work. Can't use jaw type pullers cause you will destroy the balancer, learned that on a Chevy V8 once. The next issue came with trying to remove the yoke assy that also has a harmonic balancer on it. Then you can line up these marks and it should be back the way the factory installed it. Just to make sure the balancer yoke is installed in the same position it was removed from, and to verify you tighten the nut fully, take a screw driver or punch and make some marks at the yoke, nut and end of pinion shaft. My air impact is a sissy, so I used my cheapo electric impact that also came from Northern Tool back before I had my compressor. I used an adapter from 3/4' drive to 1/2' drive so I could use my impact. I bought some SAE sockets just hoping I could make one work, turns out I found the perfect fit from Northern. I was thinking it was metric, but nobody made a metric 12pt socket that was that size. I bought 3 more large sockets at Northern Tool the other day and found out which socket it was. The local stores didn't have anything that fit and I spent a few bucks to figure that out. Not been fun trying to figure out what size that nut is. I pulled the driveshaft loose at the rear yoke only to find that there is a 12point nut on the yoke. Advice about changing the rear pinion seal on the Duramax 3500, and some tools needed.
